Tour Italy with us on March 20th! 🍷💚🤍❤️
Events
Mark your calendars and grab your tickets! We are introducing our wine education series. Join us at the shop on Thursday, March 20th from 6:30-8:30pm. Sam Long will be here to guide us on a tour of Italy. Seating is limited! Unlike our Friday Night Flights + Bites tasting events, the education series will be a seated event. We’ll taste through six wines together as Sam works his spellbinding magic to educate AND entertain as only he can. Chef Serenity is curating a pairing menu of small bites.
And our normal Friday Night Flights + Bites returns on Friday, April 4th from 5-7pm with our friend Spencer Tackett! Get your tickets here.
Visit the events page on our website to stay up-to-date with all the goings on here at Piazza Discepoli.
Gourmet Updates
Friday is Pi Day! We’re making it easy to celebrate 3/14. Chef Serenity will have a couple of pies baked and ready for you to pick up, or you can grab a jar of pecan pie in a jar and quickly make your own great-tasting pies at home with just a couple of ingredients! And Pi Day isn’t the only fun day this week. Thursday is International Riesling Day! If you’re celebrating both, we suggest pairing a Riesling with apple pie.
We create hand-crafted, custom charcuterie and cheese boards for all occasions and for any number of people. You can order by emailing Serenity using the link below, calling us at 513-561-6956, or stopping in the shop.
Wines
Most of the Chardonnay in this Bourgogne Blanc is grown on the border of the prized 1er Cru “Charmes” vineyard, literally a stone’s throw away. This is an important distinction from many other Bourgogne Blancs produced. Most Bourgogne Blancs use juvenile vines newly planted in a prestigious village (like Meursault, Puligny Montrachet, and Chassagne Montrachet). To avoid the degradation of a flagship, prestigious wine (Puligny, Chassagne, etc), the juvenile grapes are declassified to Bourgogne Blanc. Producers do this to generate revenue while these vines establish themselves.
Jobard’s Bourgogne Blanc Vieille Vignes (old vines) is one of Burgundy’s hidden treasures. Locals tend to snatch up all that is available of Remi Jobard’s certified organic Bourgogne Blanc, with very little making its way out of France. If you were to blind-taste this Chardonnay, you would be captivated by its classic Meursault profile of pear, lemon zest, green apple, white peach, orange oil, and white flower. A hint of roasted nut and chalk provide a bit of weight and texture. This beautiful wine is absolutely delicious! And not easy to get your hands on. We have a few bottles available. Call if you’re interested in purchasing.
